outline the nature of taylor's wines
Taylor's Wines is an estate wine producer located in South Australia, beginning with the legacy of Bill Taylor Sr. and his two sons. Although they were bottling and distributing wines in Sydney since 1950, the enterprise only started as this family purchased 173 hectares of land in the Clare Valley region in 1969, after deciding to begin growing their own wine. By 1973, a winery was established here with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz varieties being grown at the site. After winning multiple gold medals at wine awards for their 1973 vintage wines, Taylor's Wines became more acclaimed as a high quality wine making enterprise.
They hold now 13 varieties of wine grapes in their plot, including Riesling and Chardonnay, all grown and bottled on their estate. Now, Taylor's Wines have developed into an enterprise which employs advanced, sometimes self pioneered technologies to export their product. This large export market led to their more industrial, less aesthetic winery layout, with several warehouses and buildings. Unlike other wineries, they do not encourage consumers to visit their property and partake in wine-tasting, tours and other wine-related activities, but are built solely to create and export their product from the site. Despite this, Taylor's Wines still develop many varieties of New World wines, aimed to rival and surpass the quality of the Old World.
